Today's studio session was all about finishing up the pots I started two days ago.  Clay sets up as it dries out, so I needed to give them time before being able to trim and handle them. Pottery is such a step by step process, with lots of drying time in between.

Working on pottery right now feels a bit like getting all dressed up with nowhere to go because all of our kilns were destroyed in the flood. I still find myself being called to continue work on pottery. I tried creating a painting, and a drawing with colored pencils, but I'm having a hard time enjoying the finished piece. The aesthetics are so different than I'm used to. That being said, I only did one each so I realize I need to do a few more before finding my rhythm.

Flood update - we power washed all our studio buckets and moved them back into their spaces. It is beginning to feel like we will be able to make work in there again soon. Miranda has decided which kiln to purchase to replace the damaged ones, and will be ordering that soon. They will have to make the kiln to order so it will be six to eight weeks before we get it, which is a bit gnarly, but time flies so I'm sure it'll be here before we know it.
